When I Was Taller – A Parent’s Story

parent

Many years ago, I was leaving the pediatrician’s office with one of my sons.

Me: You’re getting so big. The doctor says you’re three-and-a-half feet tall already.

Son: That’s ‘cause I’m three-and-a-half.

Me: Hmm. How tall are you going to be when you’re four?

Son: Four feet tall.

Me: How about when you’re eight?

Son: Eight feet tall.

Me: Hmm. Do you know how old I am?

Son: You’re 27.

Me: Do you know how tall I am?

Son: You’re [long pause]. Dad, are you 27 feet tall?

Me: [pause] Yes. Yes I am.

A parent can dream!
