I took a taxi to a friend’s house in the southern suburbs of town and after a few minutes I realized I gave him the wrong address.
So I decided to gently nudge the driver on his shoulder so I could tell him the right address but to my surprise he went crazy!
He almost lost control of the car; he hit a garbage can; he almost drove onto the sidewalk, but thankfully managed to stop the taxi only a few inches short of an electronics and video-game store. He then turned to me with obvious panic in his eyes and agony on his face.
“Are you mad, sir? Why did you do that? You almost gave me a heart attack!” he yelled.
Obviously shocked, I replied, “But, sir, I barely touched you on the shoulder. I never thought you’d have such a reaction to a simple touch.”
Then, apologetically, the driver said, “Uh… yeah… uhhh… See, this is my first day on the job. For the past eighteen years I drove a hearse!”
