The Perfect Balancing Act

BalancingActPicHave you heard of Nik Wallenda?  He is a 7th generation stunt man who grew up in a family of entertainers.  About a year ago he walked across the Niagara Falls on a tight rope at night!  It was bound to be an exciting, horrifying, and exhilarating evening.

In preparation, I decided to have a family ‘Nik Wallenda’ party.  How do you have a Nik party?

Well, I bought rope sausage long enough to reach across our entire kitchen table (not an easy task on our small grill)!  To accompany the sausage, I bought loafs of French bread and also placed those across the table. We ate spaghetti, string licorice, and other long stringy things!!!  I even got my kids to eat  asparagus!

It proved to be a great evening.  Nik successfully crossed the Niagara falls.

So yesterday, when I found out that Nik was going to walk across the Grand Canyon, I ran to the grocery store to buy rope sausage (after all, this is now tradition).  Unfortunately there was no rope sausage left (did others have my same idea?).  I ended up with foot long hot dogs, long pretzel rods, and carrots.  Even though it wasn’t perfect– it worked! I made everything into a long straight line (even the carrots).  What a creative way to make my kids eat vegetables!

Needless to say, it was a successful evening for both Nik and our family (not to mention the millions of others watching world wide).  Nik’s goal is to make people reach for their dreams.  What great family entertainment! Everyone can enjoy witnessing the unbelievable fulfillment of a goal. And to think, he did it all in a pair of jeans! My family and I joked that they must be the “Lucky” brand. 😉

Thanks Nik, you inspire us (and help my kids to eat their veggies)!!
