The Missing Mustache

mustache

I learned how to dress, not from my mother, but from Dad. He always looked, as we said way back, GQ.  Now the word would be that he was a ‘fashionista’, dressed on trend along with and his curly head of hair and a big mustache. He was, and still is, attractive and always recognized for his well groomed style.

Years back when I was a mere student away at college Dad came to visit me. Upon saying our hellos with the usual hugs and chatter I said “Dad you look really good …you shaved off your mustache!” Dad gave me an odd look and promptly answered ”Thank you for noticing, I shaved it off two years ago”.  Of course it set both of us off laughing.

To this day whenever I visit with him I always smile at that memory since I still can never remember if he has well quaffed upper lip or if he is clean shaven. It is always a fun surprise for me when I see him and it is confirmed that he did grow the mustache back and it is still there!
