Alan Brings Peace To One Small Corner Of The Middle East

BARBERPOLEALANAlan, our Inspiration, could really bring folks together.  He demonstrated this when he found himself in the Arab section of Tel Aviv.

Looking to create and enjoy some fun, Alan marched into a barber shop and claimed that it was his “lifelong dream” to cut somebody’s hair.  Of course, it wasn’t. And I feel confident that neither before nor subsequent to that day did Alan’s hand cause a single strand of hair to fall off a head and onto the floor.

But on that day– bridging not only a geographic, a religious (as previously noted Alan was Jewish), some degree of language, but also a pretty substantial skill gap– Alan realized his new “lifelong dream.”

It’s been so long that I don’t remember the full story details as Alan explained them to me, whose hair he ended up cutting, for how long, and the specifics of how he made it happen.  What I do recall is that it was his combination of his charming wit, giant smile, and playfulness that got the job done.  What I also recall him sharing with me was that in the end, he was laughing, arm and arm with his new comrades in fun.

Only Alan could pull this off.  Only Alan.

There’s only one true superpower amongst human beings, and that is being funny. People treat you differently if you can make them laugh right?

If he cut his own hair, did he even have to pay?

    • TheBigMilkshake

Hmm… great question… maybe not… but then perhaps he had to pay for renting the seat and scissors…

  • This Alan is so likeable.

    • TheBigMilkshake

yup. Glad you think so. 🙂
